With its 2,610 miles of coastline, stretching from near the equator to the most Southerly habitable regions of the world, Chile has an amazing diversity of climate and geography. But the scope for winemaking is confined to a small central region with its moderate climate. Wine has been made in Chile for centuries, though the country has emerged onto the international scene only during the last 20 years offering fruity white wines and rich, juicy reds. Most importantly of all, they have kept a lid on price without sacrificing quality.
Vina Indomita was founded with a specific objective to differentiate itself from other Chilean wine producers. It is a young, dynamic company, 100% focused on producing wine for the domestic and export markets. Its stunning new winery is perched overlooking the vineyards with cellars partially built into the hillside. State-of-the-art thermostatic stainless steel tanks control the fermentation process to the utmost degree and the results are of consistent high quality. The winery is 80km from Santiago and 40km from Valparaiso on the coast. It sources grapes from 400 ha of vineyards in Maipo - famous for its red wine production - and 200 ha in Casablanca - the region that excels in growing white grapes.
Cantus builds on the success of the previous Estampilla label from the same winery. Both the Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot are 100% varietals, manually harvested and unoaked. See Casablanca and Maipo regions for the rest of the Cantus range.
Sauvignon Blanc has an intense, expressive citrus nose, wonderful fruit balanced with mineral and herbaceous notes.
Merlot has well defined varietal aromas with plenty of plum and blackcurrant fruit creating a medium weighted, easy drinking wine.
