Congratulations again to Grenache Restaurant who were voted Best North West Restaurant by the Hi-Life Dining Awards. This tops their award of Best Manchester Restaurant last year. (8th Feb 2012). Read more here.

Fischer Tradition has come top of the Full-Flavoured Lager list in Imbibe's 'Beer Special 2011' tasting: "Lightly hopped, it's the biscuity malts that entertain most...velvety mouthfeel and good body." Kaiserdom Dark also recieved good comments from the tasters: "Hugely complex..." (11th November 2011)

Martin Berdugo scooped some great awards at the recent AWC in Vienna. Gold for their Crianza 2008, Silver for both Barrica 2009 and Joven 2010. (11th November 2011)

Another Gold Award for Tapiz, this time for "Sustainable Practices." Activities include lamas and weaving, reconstruction of a historic farm (Club Tapiz accomodation), recycling of waste - both grapes and olives - as biocompost. Caring for the environment and integration with the community to preserve local identity have always been part of the winery's objectives and the award is well deserved. (27th September 2011)

It is with great regret that we at Morgenrot announce the death of our Managing Director, Ray Flynn.
Ray was diagnosed with cancer in March this year. After 6 months he unfortunately lost his battle on Saturday, 27th August 2011, aged 47. Our thoughts are with his family at this sad time.
In 1999 Ray joined Morgenrot, after spending 19 years working through the ranks at Scatchard Wine Merchants in Liverpool. He was appointed Managing Director of Morgenrot in 2003 and with rapid growth Ray took our business into UK wide distribution of wines and beers. Ray’s outstanding knowledge of the market, were complemented by his managerial leadership and financial acumen making him one of the outstanding business personalities in our industry.
Rudi Plath, the Company Founder and Chairman, notes "Ray was more than a colleague; he was a true and close personal friend. He has set the company on the steady course we are now on, exceeding our aspirations and securing the future of the business. We will always be grateful for the hard work and commitment he has shown. We will endeavour to follow in his footsteps, as the business continues to grow and develop in his absence. He will be truly missed." (31st August 2011)

We are proud to have achieved a high success rate for wine submitted to the Decanter Awards. Congratulations to our Champagne agencies Bernard Remy who were awarded Silver for their Grand Cru and Bronze for the Carte Blanche and Tribaut also claiming Silver for their Brut Origine. Bodegas Vallemayor recieved two Bronze medals for their Reserva and Cerridilla Riojas and Bodegas Masia Can Mayol also a Bronze for their 'MM' Gran Reserva Cava. (6th June 2011)

Bernard Remy Rose struck Gold at the 2011 Concours Mondial de Bruxelles to complete their haul of medals with Tribaut's Cuvee Rene awarded a Silver medal. (6th June 2011)

Morgenrot have been appointed as sole UK importer of one of our key agency lines, Spains top beer Cruzcampo. Sales emphasis will be on draught and also on Litre bottles, with an encouragement to 'Share beer like wine'. Full story and quotes here.

We are delighted to announce that Champagne Tribaut is now listed at Epernay's bars in Leeds and Manchester. It is also available by bottle and glass in Bedales at Borough Market, Smithfields and Leddenhall, London. (21st March 2011).

The English National Racketball Championships were held at Chapel Allerton LT & SC in Leeds on Sunday 6th March. 70 competitors travelled from around the country to take part. As suppliers to the club, complimentary draught Krombacher Pils and Kaiserdom Pils was provided by Morgenrot. (7th March 2011).

Champagne Bernard Remy won 4 'glasses' (from a maximum 5) in the Austrian Wine Magazine ÖGZ at the tasting Schaumwein Cup.(22nd Feb 2011).
