Tohu is unique in being New Zealand's only Maori owned and controlled wine company. It is the result of a partnership between two Trusts and an investment company, incorporating the winery and an expanding number of vineyards, and is a successful and outstanding example of native enterprise.
Keen to acknowledge their history, Maori culture features heavily in the brand with distinctive labels drawn from their heritage.
Morton Estate:
Penny Lane Sauvignon Blanc has prominent asparagus aromas and a full palate that displays forceful gooseberry and lime flavours.
Tohu Estate:
Sauvignon Blanc is harvested from the Awatere and Wairau Valleys in Marlborough. The juice was cold fermented in stainless steel at low temperature with selected yeast strains to preserve the inherent fruit flavours. This is a medium bodied Sauvignon Blanc with fragrant aromas of flowers and passion fruit.
